Blue Carousel

13–14.03.2026

Blue Carousel is a bold, playful satire on seduction. Created by Lisa Colette Bysheim (NO) and Katrine Patry (NO/CA), with a live techno set by DJ-duo asiangirlsonly (NO/PH), the performance uses humour, repetition, and powerful physicality to explore perceptions of the female body, objectification, and categorization.

Drawing inspiration from bird mating dances, Blue Carousel deconstructs rituals of allure and power, fusing choreography with the intensity of techno and club culture. Through looping, exaggeration, and spectacular insistence, the work turns seduction into confrontation—transforming spectacle into a playful yet unsettling tool.

By colliding the familiar and the absurd, the performance questions how women’s bodies are framed, consumed, and objectified, while inviting audiences into a space that is magnetic, critical, and provocative. The work offers perspectives on how power operates in both visible and subtle forms. Blue Carousel is part of the Aerowaves Twenty25 network.

Lisa Colette Bysheim and Katrine Patry have collaborated since 2018 developing a distinctive choreographic partnership grounded in a shared commitment to exploring the complexities of power, seduction, and the human experience. At the core of their collaboration lies a fascination with the subtle mechanics of “soft power”—examining how power dynamics, objectification, and consumption of the female body are expressed and embodied through movement. Using repetition and the raw energy of spectacle, their performance captivates and provokes, inviting audiences to reconsider their assumptions and engage in deeper reflections on societal structures.
