Artistic statement by Auguste de Boursetty
“Heavy, baby is my second creation in collaboration with Alex Freiheit. It follows our first project, What will remain secret, which was an ode to our first names — a chewed-up invocation of childhood memories to re-enchant our bodies. There was no hidden trauma beneath those memories, no dark secrets lurking under the surface — yet sometimes, in the hollows of our bodies, between the sounds of those seemingly innocent tales, in the cracks of laughter, small atrocities whispered.
Heavy, baby is a plunge into darkness. A kind of bewildered fairytale inhabited by nightmarish creatures, imaginary friends, and the ghosts of beings adulthood has pushed us to forget. A choreography that unfolds like a slightly spooky Muppet Show, a space where the boundaries between cute and horrifying blur, and where the monsters get to speak.”

Biographies
Auguste de Boursetty, associated artist of Sévelin 36, began by studying visual arts at the HEAR in Strasbourg. He then moved to Lausanne to continue his studies in the Bachelor’s programme in dance at La Manufacture. He developed his work – mainly centred on dance, costume and a love of the Middle Ages – within the collectif Foulles, which he co-founded with three other artists: Délia Krayenbühl, Collin Cabanis and Fabio Zoppelli. Auguste also works as a performer and costume designer with Alix Eynaudi, Nicole Seiler, Catol Teixeira, Vidal Bini, Régine Chopinot and Natasza Gerlach.
Alex Freiheit is the lead singer of punk duo SIKSA. She is also a spoken word artist, actress and performer. Her writing practice is torn between political realism/activism and magical realism rooted in fables, pop culture and childhood memories.
