How does our way of dancing evolve when we imbue it with a personality, a story, an energy or an intention? In this workshop, running alongside the performance Acting Fantasma, its two performers, Manu and Trésor, explore movement as a space for play and the negotiation of identity. Drawing on hip-hop culture, Sturdy, capoeira and their respective heritage, participants are each invited to awaken their bodies, assert their imagination and find their own way of telling a story. Rhythm, improvisation, musicality, textures and presence become tools for bringing a character to life and allowing that character to influence the way we dance.

Trésor Gennai Yahaut is a dancer and performing artist based in Montpellier (FR). Self-taught, he first made a name for himself on TikTok, where his choreographic work has attracted a following of over 750,000 subscribers. He has collaborated on stage with the French rappers Gazo and Kerchak before joining Samir Laghouati-Rashwan’s *On vous voit* in 2023. His movement vocabulary draws inspiration from dances that emerged and went viral online, notably the Sturdy Dance from Chicago and Jersey Club dance.

Manu Garcia Mpasi is a Belgian-Congolese and Ghanaian dancer, choreographer and performer. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, he develops a practice at the crossroads of hip-hop, improvisation, performance and storytelling. His work draws inspiration from various practices within hip-hop culture, notably breaking, krump and popping, as well as capoeira and Bakongo cosmology. He regards the body as a living archive, capable of conveying stories, experiences and imaginations.
