The class « création collective : arts improvisés et ingénierie », part of the SHS program at EPFL (human and social sciences) was invented by Prof. Simon Henein in collaboration with the artist performer Joëlle Valterio and Arsenic – Centre d’art scénique contemporain in Lausanne. Since 2017, through this class, students learn improvising technics from the performing arts (theater, music, dance and performance) and examine their possible transposition to engineering design practices. The collective creative process studies result in a piece with a public showing at Arsenic. The students’ improvised performances include their technical skills, thus revealing the polarities and articulations between their physical presence and that of their artefacts.
Entry free of charge – bookings recommended
