CultuRadio est un projet de médiation culturelle porté par l’Association ParticiMedia. Par le biais d’émissions radio en direct depuis leur bus, dans la cour de l’Arsenic, un groupe de passionné.e.x.s de la culture suit le déroulement du festival. L’occasion de rencontrer les artistes, de s’ap- proprier l’événement au fil de leurs expériences et de leurs impressions afin de transmettre et partager leur intérêt avec les auditeur.trice.x.s. Une démarche innovante qui a vu le jour au Festival Les Urbaines en 2014.

CultuRadio is an arts outreach project carried by the ParticiMedia association. Via live radio programmes recorded on their bus in the courtyard of the Arsenic, a group of culture enthusiasts follows the festival proceedings. This represents an opportunity to meet the artists, to inhabit the event according to their experiences and impressions, and to convey and share their interest with the listeners. An innovative approach that was born during the 2014 edition of the Les Urbaines festival.

À mi-chemin entre le cirque, le concert et l’installation, Circo Gelatino naît du croisement des pratiques de Loto Retina (musicien, sound designer) et des frères Chambry, Arthur (musicien, performeur) et Gauthier (designer, scénographe). Les numéros se succèdent, conduits par une composition sonore interactive. Un laboratoire absurde et polysémique qui donne à voir de nouvelles pistes sur le rapport entre le mouvement, les sons et l’individu.

Somewhere between circus, concert and installation, Circo Gelatino was born from the encounter of the practices of Loto Retina (musician and sound designer) and the Chambry brothers, Arthur (musician and performer) and Gauthier (designer and scenographer). Acts succeed one another, carried by an interactive sound composition. An absurd and polysemic laboratory that opens onto new paths for thinking the relationship between movement, sounds and the individual.

Avec Oriental Demo, Ceylan Öztrük sort de sa pratique de plasticienne et présente sa première performance théâtrale. Sous les yeux du public, elle s’initie à la danse du ventre guidée par une professeure. Cette expérience lui permet de tirer des parallèles entre orientalisme et hétéronormativité. Spontanée et généreuse, l’artiste allie actions et considérations théoriques pour questionner la manière dont le patriarcat détermine l’image et le regard porté sur les femmes.

With Oriental Demo, Ceylan Öztrük steps away from her practice as a fine artist and presents her first theatrical performance. Under the gaze of the audience, she learns how to bellydance with the guidance of a teacher. This experience allows her to draw parallels between orientalism and heteronormativity. In a spontaneous and generous approach, the artist merges actions and theoretical considerations in order to question the manner in which the patriarchy determines the representation of and the gaze directed at women.

Mother The Verb est une performance aux allures de rituel nourrie par la danse, le texte et la vidéo. Dans une perspective queer, Ivy Monteiro et Javier Stell-Fresquez proposent une étude tendre et complexe du terme et concept de « maternité ». Dénonçant la toxicité des systèmes post-coloniaux tant pour les relations humaines que pour celles avec la Terre, Mother The Verb exprime la possibilité d’un rapport au maternel transfiguré et salvateur.

Mother The Verb is a performance with an air of ritual, fed by dance, text and video. Within a queer perspective, Ivy Monteiro and Javier Stell-Fresquez propose a tender and complex study of the term and concept of “motherhood”. Denouncing the toxicity of post-colonial systems towards human relationships as well as towards the Earth, Mother The Verb expresses the possibility of a transfigured and redeeming relationship to motherhood.

Plight Notions est une performance suivant le cours des ironiques mais inquiétantes révélations du personnage névrosé de Shandy, interprété par Bully Fae Collins. Au fur et à mesure de son récit, Shandy se retrouve piégé par sa propre paranoïa. Entre escroquerie et pur délire, l’artiste présente un one-person-show nourri par des expériences personnelles, tranchant et pointu comme une lame.

Plight Notions is a performance that follows the course of the ironic but disquieting revelations of the neurotic character Shandy, played by Bully Fae Collins. During the course of his story, Shandy finds himself trapped by his own paranoia. Sitting somewhere between swindle and pure delirium, the artist presents a one-person show fed by personal experiences, which is as sharp and cutting as a blade.

Adriano Wilfert Jensen et Simon Asencio sont les initiateurs de Galerie : une galerie sans lieu fixe, montrant uniquement des œuvres immatérielles. Avec Group Show, les deux marchands d’art s’approprient un lieu donné en y « exposant » une sélection de performances de leur catalogue qu’ils activent en les interprétant eux-mêmes. Le duo offre ainsi une réflexion inédite et décalée sur le processus de circulation des œuvres performatives.

Adriano Wilfert Jensen and Simon Asencio are the creators of Galerie: a gallery with no fixed space, showing only immaterial works. In Group Show, the two art dealers take over a given space by “exhibiting” a selection of performances from their catalogue, which they activate by performing them themselves. The duo thus offers an original and playful reflection on the circulation process of performative works.

CECILIA est l’alter ego scénique de Mélissa Gagné, dont l’univers romanesque et néoclassique dessine les nouveaux contours d’une musique influencée par le club. Aux fragments électroniques viennent s’ajouter voix susurrées et extraits de films ou de poésie à la rythmique hachée, dans une quête libertaire de l’intime et du sensuel. « La liberté pour tout le monde, pour les insectes, pour les êtres humains, pour les planètes, pour tout », comme le dit Grisélidis Réal dans le titre d’ouverture d’Adoration, premier album de CECILIA.

CECILIA is the stage alter ego of Mélissa Gagné, whose fictional and neoclassical world sketches out the contours of a musical style influenced by club genres. On top of electronic fragments, she adds whispering voices and extracts from films or poetry with broken rhythms, in an emancipating quest for intimacy and sensuality. “Freedom for everybody, for insects, for human beings, for planets, for everything”, as expressed by Grisélidis Réal in the opening track of Adoration, CECILIA’s first album.

Dans FIEBRE, Tamara Alegre propose une pièce chorégraphiée à partir du slime, émanant de la volonté de créer un espace intime propice à la recherche sensible, où l’érotisme est source de pouvoir. La matière glissante et visqueuse influence et transforme le mouvement des performeuses les amenant à une exploration sensorielle oscillant entre étrangeté, dégoût, désir et amusement. Sur un sol devenu liquide, on assiste à l’apparition de nouveaux langages chorégraphiques.

In FIEBRE, Tamara Alegre proposes a choreographed piece based on slime, which emanates from a desire to create an intimate space conducive to a sensuous kind of research where eroticism becomes a source of power. The slippery and gooey matter influences and transforms the movement of the performers, leading them to a sensory exploration which moves between strangeness, disgust, desire and amusement. On a now liquid floor, we witness the appearance of new choreographic languages.

Dans sa pratique, Maria Metsalu développe différents clones d’elle-même dans des performances très visuelles. Pour Mademoiselle x, elle incarne une femme-zombie dans un état d’entre-deux, persuadée d’être morte alors qu’elle est encore en vie. Ses gestes mettent en place une chorégraphie d’automate, appuyée par une dramaturgie répétitive qui crée un fort contraste avec la dimension spectaculaire de la mise en scène. Une danse hypnotique aux accents post-porn, au sein d’un dispositif macabre et énigmatique.

In her practice, Maria Metsalu develops different clones of herself in very visual performances. For Mademoiselle x, she embodies a zombie-woman in a state of in-between, convinced that she is dead when she is in fact alive. Her gestures implement an automaton-like choreography, underscored by a repetitive dramaturgy that creates a strong contrast with the spectacular dimension of the staging. A hypnotic dance with post-porn accents, within a macabre and enigmatic apparatus.
