We want to sing, to say things inscribed in the flesh of our youth, and to be in the adolescent poem. -Julien Mages
Inspired by the author’s atypical biography, Adolescence, Courir la nuit aboie paints the portrait of a drifting 17-year-old, prey to drugs and delinquency, locked up in prison while his peers are learning about love, studying, and partying in freedom. Like a summer storm, the play recounts the discoveries made during the transition from childhood to adult responsibility. In this almost one-man show, Julien Mages composes a poetic and sonic journey – with musical accompaniment by Pierre Audétat – through the delirious vortex of a drunken teenager who floats from a cell to a room, from psychiatric isolation to the street, from a squat to the bourgeois home of his childhood.
