The story takes place in the near future: the last surviving species of large mammals dies in the presence of two scientists, a woman and a man. For the duration of the play, its tragic demise accompanies the agony of words, unearthing silence. ANIMAUX is a theatrical and poetic reflection on the human species, but above all an ode to nature and animals; a digression on the end of our world and of living things as predicted by scientists and thinkers. The hierarchisation of species, the genocide of the living, the mass extinction of animals, the shrinking of wild spaces, global warming – such are the evils voiced by two characters sitting on the ruins of the world.
