The solution proposed by INACTUELS is to make the unconscious, the magical and the inexplicable visible and tangible, in order to enhance the present and intensify its multiple realities.
Like an adventure in the original sense of the word – something that occurs which is unexpected and surprising – INACTUELS invites us to connect with our destiny, in order to explore what deviates from the predictable.
Following in the footsteps of MAKERS, the two performers present a series of poetic rituals and contexts of transformation, without taking themselves too seriously – on the contrary – and always, or almost always, with a sense of humour and generosity.
Taking a step to the side and shifting our gaze towards the mysterious is the guiding principle behind INACTUELS, like an invitation to trust in the impossible. INACTUELS pays homage to what cannot be said, cannot be seen, cannot be heard – in short, to what eludes us.
Director and actor, as well as author and set designer, Oscar Gómez Mata began his theatrical career in Spain in 1987, when he co-founded the Compagnie Legaleón-T, with which he created a number of shows until 1996. In 1997 he co-founded the company L’Alakran in Geneva, where he is artistic director and responsible for direction, design, dramaturgy and texts. He is also involved in some of the company’s productions, which are co-produced by Swiss and foreign theatres and tour stages in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Latin America.
As a teacher, Oscar Gómez Mata has been in charge of the module “Présence: Penser l’action” at the Manufacture – Haute École des arts de la scène, Lausanne, since 2012. With the help of Yvanne Chapuis, the teaching technique he has developed over the years has been written up in the book “Penser l’action, un système d’entraînement de l’acteur-rice”.
He has also worked as a trainer and teacher, among other structures, at the Serge Martin school, as part of Chantiers nomades (a continuing education structure for performing arts professionals), and as part of the Master in Performing Arts Practice and Visual Culture organised by the University of Alcalá (Madrid).
In 2018, he was the winner of the Swiss Theatre Prize.
He was an associate artist at the Théâtre Saint-Gervais in Geneva from 1999 to 2005, at SUBS in Lyon in 2006 and at Azkuna Zentroa Alhóndiga Bilbao for the years 2019-2022.
