DUPLI-CATA traces the encounter of two photographers and of two practices which, through a mirroring effect, question the representation of the self and of the other. The act of photographing, like that of directing theatre, organises itself as a premeditated act that implies a certain relationship to place, to time, to a technical appliance, to relational and power stakes. For this exhibition-performance, Loan Nguyen and Virginie Otth confront their gazes by taking it in turns to be each other’s model; the result is a performance that exists somewhere between the perceptions and mental projections of the other.
