[CANCELLED] L’OCELLE MARE (FRA)
Concert annulé pour raisons de santé
Watching Thomas Bonvalet — aka Ocelle Mare — play is already a show in itself, given his atypical instrumentarium : electric banjo, mouth organ or bell-adorned mechanical metronome are all sounds that you can hear — or feel — during his concerts. L’Ocelle Mare is a virtuoso musician who reinvents blues, folk and flamenco through his live techniques, without resorting to any technical equipment or recordings. His world is highly personal and dreamlike, made of squeaks and silences and that stimulates the imagination.
Thomas Bonvalet (born in 1977) started out as a guitar player for the band Cheval de frise between 1998 and 2004, before playing his first solo show in 2005 under the stage name l’Ocelle Mare. His solo project centred at first on short, dynamic and abrupt pieces for the classical guitar. He now mainly composes with a six-string electric banjo, a mouth organ, a mechanical bell metronome, harmonica reeds, tuning forks and bells. Alongside his solo project, he has recently collaborated with other bands and musicians such as Arlt, Powerdove, Radikal Satan and Jean-Luc Guionnet. He lives and works in Alpedrete (Spain).
