The sensory, visual and sound performances of the Chilean artist Rodrigo Sobarzo have seen him handle earth, salt, lasers, flies and ice. During a research residency at Arsenic, he is presenting a work-in-progress showing of his new piece, transforming the stage into a huge water recipient that will give rise to a series of performances about this vital element. Thinking this museum as a container where water is preserved, housing works that wet us, works destined to change constantly, like an ode to the exquisite relationship between this liquid and the force of gravity.
Rodrigo Sobarzo de Larraechea (CL/NL) studied at the SNDO in Amsterdam and was a resident at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. His work seeks to envelope its viewer into visual introspection as a result from actively subtracting the importance of the human within performance art. Crafting a shielded presence that allows shades to step in. Furthermore he possesses a strong interest on subculture and sub-cultural production by means of digital connectivity throughout various internet sites and social networks: Au†¡smo
