Imagine looking at one image that needs to be re-shaped, re-lived, re-born, re-main. Like separating scent layers that make up a fragrance, Untitled (sequences) is a deconstruction over four evenings. The character of PRICE echoes a product – of, for, about, through, and resisting time. Invested in the construction of sincere affect without interest in authenticity, PRICE and his extensive roster of collaborators reorganise and present accumulated materials. The force of language performs a deception of affect, drawing attention to the scenario as a technological prosthetic.
PRICE, Ivan Cheng, Thibault Lac, Tiran display a continuous re-shaping of the self. Oscillating between installation and choreographed drama for a prolonged duration, the individuals exaggerate and amplify ‘emotion’ over a set of rhythmic phrases. A contemporary desire for constant performance is reflected and distorted.
