Kâ! a young, intrepid and deluded mermaid invites us into her land. Despite the protection of her fathers and the blessings of the Fa oracles, one night everything changes. Kâ! the young mermaid embodied by Karine Dahouindji is diagnosed with breast cancer. But why her?
In a body transformed by the amputation of a limb, Karine Dahouindji explores the notion of the phantom limb. This is how she sets herself on an introspective work, with the instinctive need to reconnect with her deep roots in Benin, left unexplored until now, hoping for an answer. She opens the doors to what is lost, imagined and fantasized. She wonders what heritage her ancestors have passed on to her, beyond these suffering genetics.
In what turns into a healing ritual, Karine Dahouindji digs deep and seeks to access different states of consciousness to better find herself. A model of resilience, Kâ! has come a long way and shares her approach to self-care in an intimate and collective space, as a guide to restoration.

Karine Dahouindji trained at the CNDC in Angers and at La Manufacture in Lausanne. Since 2018, she has been working as a performer with artists such as Nicole Seiler, Ruth Childs and Maud Blandel. She is a member and the artistic co-director of the OUINCH OUINCH collective. Together, they work on how to form a group while asserting strong personalities through festive, carnivalesque and joyful in situ forms. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, she drew on the history of her origins and her tried body to offer her first solo Kâ! Sirène des terres, which premiered in November 2023 at l’Abri-Genève.
