Two Brazilian artists came together in 2018, committed to create a choreography of self-defense in the face of physical, imaginary and epistemological violence. Repertório n.2 was presented in June 2023 at Arsenic. Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira continue their research with this new episode.
Repertório aims to deconstruct the idea of a generalized violence and seeks to establish new ways of understanding and representing the experiences of minorities. This research draws on postcolonial, gender and race studies to question violence and help dispel it.
Their aim is to grasp how a body, and what it is charged with, develops its own capacity to defend itself.
How can we perform violence without condoning it? By setting this choreographic repertoire of self-defense in motion, Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira aim to shake up minds and ideas through the body, by proposing various strategies of resistance: a powerful and enduring way of staying in the world by populating imaginations with visionary fantasies.
